Sick

Sunday 4th January - 1 month, 19 days

Yesterday was awesome fun – up until I got sick in the evening – so I choose to write about it today, rather than yesterday, as I really did have a great day and I don’t want to minimise that. I spent a pretty miserable night, improving a little bit, but I seem to get new and different symptoms of whatever my illness is all the time.

Because *no one* is here – not my flatmates, not Matt, not the country manager, not Libby and George – and because I couldn’t find our holiday contact (it was in my email... which of course I couldn’t get to), I called our emergency health assistance number, who were helpful and suggested that if I didn’t feel sick enough to go to hospital, I could probably wait and see at home. I didn’t feel very sick then so I opted for home. Of course, later I got worse, but seeing I fell asleep and then woke up to feel merely sick again (as opposed to really sick) I am glad that I opted for home – I don’t think they could have done much for me at the hospital, they just would have sent me back home to rest.

So I’m going to survive here at home – our one lot of friends who haven’t gone away very kindly got me some groceries this morning, even though one of them is sick too – until tomorrow when the doctor’s surgery opens again (normally there are three doctors in town I could see, but naturally, two of those are also away).
